Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Hobart.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

    The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

    Great event. Group size was good (think there were 8 of us). Appreciated the freedom to explore and the ability to capture what we wanted. Duration was fine - plenty of time to look around at each spot and explore. Jay was very friendly and helpful - gave plenty of insights, tips/tricks (not just for street photography, but other types). Very enjoyable time.

    This photo was taken at Fossil Cove, Tinderbox with my Nikon Z5ii paired with 16-35mm lens at 16mm. This photo was using Iso 5000, f/4 and 30 second exposure at 4.43 am early morning before sunrise rising at the same direction of Milkyway Core.I always love this place for milkyway watching/photograph due very low light pollution.     Title or Location: Along the coast at the Waterhouse Conservation Area east of Bridport.
    My wife and I were holidaying at Bridport and the weather deteriorated. I thought there was a possibility of some moody photography along the coast past the Barnbougle Golf Course. I drove along to the Waterhouse Conservation area and the sky darkened nicely before heavy rain arrived. I was lucky to be able to capture the conditions.

    This photo was taken at 29th November 2025.I am using my Z5ii paired with my 14mm manual lens with FTZ iiAt Iso 220 f/11 1/2 sec exposure. Long short story, i am landscape photog from Indonesia. Who seeking Lights in Australia since 2023.Had been visit 6th times to South Arm before, and i saw this potential angle with good timing/day. At this 7th, i made it perfectly.     I enjoyed a photowalk event with Laurie Gallant and the Sacramento Photography group visiting Horton's Iris Farm. I always bring my Infrared camera with me in hopes of getting some good IR shots. When I saw the old red truck, I HAD to shoot it in IR! This is one of my favorite shots from that day and will go into my portfolio for sure!

    I was on holiday in Sydney and I went to Circular Quay to take some night time photos, when I saw that the opera house was lit up. I took a couple of photos ,then went to change my lens.By the time I had done this I saw the lights on the opera house had gone out. I then realised it was a rehearsal for Vivid a Sydney winter light show which takes place around the harbour.
